Zlata Maya is a one-woman atelier working between Tbilisi and Lisbon. The practice is small by intention: each project passes through one pair of hands, one sensibility, one unbroken thread from sketch to finished print.
The work is indebted to Slavic folklore, Orthodox iconography, and the folk horror of the Eastern edge of Europe. We treat the talisman as a serious object — not decoration, but instruction. Every line we draw is asked: what does it protect, and from what?
We do not chase trends. We make things to outlast the room they enter.
— Maya, founder & lead
The sigil of the house — a haloed figure, two eyes, an open arch — drawn once in 2019 and redrawn in every key since. The mark holds its shape across paper, skin, screen, and stone.
A small selection from 2023–2024. Identities, editorial covers, talismanic prints, and one mural in a wine cellar. Each piece is made on commission; nothing here is for sale.
